Full Day Tour
Le Louvre – Qasr El Watan – Sheikh Zayed Mosque
Visit Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is probably the most imposing religious and national landmark in Abu Dhabi to date. It is also arguably one of the most important architectural treasures of contemporary UAE society – and one of the most beautiful in the world – initiated no less by the late president HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who is fondly thought of as the father of the UAE.
Note: Dress Code is loose, long trousers or skirts reaching ankles and long sleeves reaching wrists. Shoulders must be covered. No shorts, tight or transparent clothing, no visible tattoos. Women must bring a scarf to cover their heads.
Visit Louvre Abu Dhabi
The striking and innovative Louvre Abu Dhabi building was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel: ‘I wanted this building to mirror a protected territory that belongs to the Arab world and this geography.’ Combining modern architecture and inspiration drawn from the region’s traditions, the design reflects the desire to create a universal museum in which all cultures are brought together.
Situated on the Saadiyat Island, Louvre Abu Dhabi is poised between sand and sea. Providing a haven of coolness, the building forms a place of shade during the day and ‘an oasis of light under a spangled dome’ at night.
Two thirds of the museum is covered by a white dome of 590 feet (180 meters) in diameter, which is an emblematic feature of Arabian architecture, evoking mosque, mausoleum and madrasa.
The dome’s seemingly random but carefully designed arrangement of geometric openings was inspired by the interlaced palm leaves traditionally used as roofing material. The apertures will make it possible to control the light and temperature inside.
Visit Qasr Al Watan
Qasr Al Watan is an incredible, new and unique landmark in the United Arab Emirates. A Palace brimming with knowledge, offering the world a first-of-its-kind insight into the Arab heritage and the governing principles that shaped the history of the United Arab Emirates and its vision to the future.
Qasr Al Watan is more than just a palace, it is an enriching journey in a contemporary setting that reveals and reflects on governance, knowledge and craftsmanship.
Then, transfer back to your hotel in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
